Photograph of Fort Chambly

Fort Chambly was the gathering location for the raiders of the 1704 raid on Deerfield, Massachusetts. The fort was surrounded by the estate of Joseph-Francois Hertel, the father of the leader of the raid, Jean-Baptist Hertel. This black and white photograph is a modern print taken from a glass plate negative given in the late 19th century to the Memorial Hall Museum in Deerfield, Massachusetts. The photo was taken by Emma Lewis Coleman.
