Dr. Ignatius Karoniaktatie Williams

Dr. Ignatius Karoniaktatie Williams (1902-1976), a longtime and beloved doctor in Kahnawake, Québec, was a descendant of Eunice (Kanenstenhawi) Williams and her Kanienkehaka (Mohawk) husband, Arosen. Eunice and her brother Stephen were both taken captive during the 1704 raid on Deerfield, Massachusetts. There is considerable family resemblance between Dr. Williams and his ancestor Stephen Williams. Dr. I. K. Williams delivered a talk on his family connections at the Deerfield tercentenary celebration. This photograph was taken by David Blanchard of the Greenfield Recorder in 1973.
