Stone Perforators

These specialized tools were crafted by Native Americans to "perforate" or put holes in leather, bark and wood. They aided in making apparel, containers and many other useful and decorative objects. The stone perforators seen here are thousands of years old. They have survived long after the organic objects upon which they were used decomposed. The haft on the example shown here is modern.
