Table
Stylish tables of the 17th century featured turned legs and stretchers. They were made in a range of sizes and served a variety of purposes. This Connecticut River Valley example has ring-turned legs and flattened ball feet. Its most appealing feature is a drawer carved with stylized botanical elements and scrolls. The original red paint has worn, but it would have been a striking piece. Larger versions of tables similar to this one but without drawers may have functioned as tables for dining.
