Tapestry Cover

The Mannerist design and former vibrant colors of this cushion cover suggest 17th-century English taste. It was made at the Sheldon Tapestry Factory in England and brought to Massachusetts by the Reverend Edward Taylor (1642-1729) from England in the late 1660s. Edward Taylor studied divinity at Harvard and became the minister of Westfield, Massachusetts. He wrote poetry throughout his life and is considered among the finest of Colonial poets.
